Rashiid K. Coleman founded Regality Records in Philadelphia in January of 2008. It was a venture that proved inevitable after many years in and around the music industry. He grew keenly observant of the changing tide in the industry and came to understand it was his responsibility to seize the new found opportunities being thrust upon him. These changes revealed a sensibility to the creation of this groundbreaking independent label.
His passion for music has been a life long affair. He hails from a rich musical heritage, and he grew up in church where his astounding musical abilities were discovered and developed. However, the music alone has not satisfied his drive to contribute something meaningful to the world.
Regality Records is committed to becoming one of the world’s preeminent music companies by following its “share the wealth” philosophy with its artists and producers. Rashiid realized that the mammoth major labels, in existence today, often abuse and exploit the gifts and abilities of their talented rosters. Our focus is clear and simple. We intend to create music products that are fit for royalty, while offering our artists and producers a stake in their futures.
With the release of its first album in February, 2008 Regality Records has already broken into foreign territories as far as Japan, Africa, the Caribbean, and the UK. All initial projections have been shattered and the future is filled with possibilities.
